AUTUMN: LOVE/HATE

Old red wooden barn with double rainbow

I have a love/hate relationship with autumn.

On a bright warm day you walk around in awe, washed over in the splendor of bright colour, fresh air and bug free comfort.

Then a fast snap of wind brings a temperature plunge and killer frost. A sudden reminder of winters' onslaught, seemingly come far too soon here in Northern Ontario.

On one hand you’re singing because of the riches of the harvest, and on the other, moaning about the workload and when it will lighten. So you pick up the pace, an even faster race to gather enough for winter supply before the snow decides to come.

So there it is. The love, and the hate. A grateful but tired warm weather gal contemplating the serenity of a nice blizzard to secure a quiet storm stayed day at home. But not quite yet, first there’s carrots to pull up, tractors to drive and preserving to do...

It’s a relief knowing the animals will be well fed when the quotas of hay and grain are in, as it is wonderful that our larder is full as well.

We are God Blessed! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone.
